Evaluation

This is a blogger for my evaluation on my wiki and especially my digital portfolio. There were positive and negative comments but mostly positive. Here are the comments:

Things we were asked to evaluate on:

The teacher asked us to evaluate the wiki spaces on their organization, presentation, color, creativity and much more things. Most people had their wiki's organized and were creative but alot of people didn't finish them.


Positive comments:

Some people said that it was good because I had something on each page and nothing was empty. A lot of people liked the vokis because I had created a voki for my I.T. teacher and other people used the idea and they created vokis for all our class's teachers. It was cool. The nice thing that people also liked about my digital portfolio was that I had done different things for the pages I didn't have pictures for everything or videos or voki's. The most thing that people liked was my BFF's page because it had pictures of me and my friends


Negative comments:

I barely got any negative comments. One that was very true was that I should have added more color to my pages and should have made the fonts bigger. Some people said that I should have added more videos but I think that I had enough videos they were 3.


My comments:

For me I think that my digital portfolio was good because I had filled every page with something nice and I'm proud of it. The things that I would like to improve if I ever do this again is adding more color to it. Another improvement that I would like to do in case I do this again is working more at home because there ere a few things that I was not able to do because I didn't work much at home.


Classmates comment:

Yasmeen Al Idrissi:I really liked the attractive pink color at the homepage. I also liked that the text was colorful. I loved the welcome page and the voki on it!!!!Good Work! =] Luv the BFF page!!!!

Amal: Good job!Excellent! It's colorful, layout and font are very good! It's easy to navigate and it's organized!!! The pages are excellent and amazing images! Excellent work!

Beruk: I like the colors & the layout is nice. It's easy to navigate through & very nice......keep up the good work. =D

Said: I like the layout and everything. Awesome colors just work a little on the math video.

Family's comments:

Father: Gives a clear idea of the subjects at school. I enjoyed the pictures and videos and the way of layout is good. Organized. If only there were more animations and pictures. Great job!

Mother: Excellent if only some of the pictures for your books were flipped. The animoto videos are nice.

Brother: Awesome! The things on the pages are all related to the subjects and nice music for the videos. Great but only needs to be a tiny bit interesting and creative.

Sister: Very nice and especially the BFF's page. The animoto videos are amazing. It would be nice if there were more animoto videos because they are nice.

Nanny: Great and the best things are the math animoto and the BFF's page.

My Digital Portfolio Design

My Digital Portfolio

- Discussing Points:

For my digital portfolio I'm going to make mine organized. It will be organized by placing all my headings on the left hand side on the navigation bar just like Vincent's portfolio. I'm going to put five main headings which are Language, Science, Technology, Arts, Others for P.E. and Humanities. To make my digital portfolio stand out and be attractive I'm going to use bright colors like yellow and green and red. I;m going to insert music but I'll make a button on the homepage which says music and next to it I will have a message saying if you don't like loud music don't press this button. Since my digital portfolio is for showcasing my school work I'm going to make a page about my personal interests. In the homepage I will talk about myself and I will give instructions to the viewers so that they don't get lost. I'll definitely include pictures on each page but the pictures have to do with the subjects.

INVESTIGATION

Vincent's Portfolio:


Vincent's has a page for every subject in his wiki. The headings were for each subject on the left hand side of the page.He has six main headings and under each main heading he has the subjects that fit under it.He also has some personal pages like about skateboarding and his personal statement and his hobbies.In each page he has his favorite pieces of work.In about each page he has pictures that fit with the subject and he adds a sense of humor to each one to make you enjoy the page. The thing I didn't like was that he had very long essays that no kid I think would want to read. Overall the page is very organized and you can get to the page you want easily.

In this page the designer has five headings, The Seine River,Online Activities, Map of Paris, Flag of France,French Vocabulary Words. At the top she has a page called"Begin Your Tour" if you click on that she will show you different places in Paris. With each paragraph about the place you have a picture to see of the place she's talking about. The good thing about the page is that it's organized and neat and that it makes you want to know what it's about. What is not so good is that once you open it, it starts playing music which can distract you and it's the same music over and over again. If she had made the page colorful it would have been better since it would be appealing to the eye.

Paul Fenske:



Paul Fenske's portfolio doesn't include any subjects. It includes different things such as pages about clothes and about magazines, newspapers etc. What is good about the web design is that the page is very organized in the beggining and it has a nice background. The things that I thought weren't so good was how he had alot of pages all written together and small. The organization is excellent but if the creator of the web would use main headings to group the headings he has because it is very confusing.

Features:

-Digital portfolios, sometimes referred to as multimedia portfolios, electronic portfolios, e-folios and web folios contain much of the content traditional portfolios include but present these materials in digital format.

-Materials, also called artefacts, are presented using a combination of multimedia technologies such as audio recordings, database, spreadsheet, video and others.

-Digital portfolios are a way of showcasing student achievement through class assignments, community service, and occupational experience.Basically, a digital portfolio means that students can save their work to a disk, a CD, or a web page.

Advantages:


-Accessibility: Portfolios in digital format can be easily and inexpensively reproduced therefore materials can be made available to a wider audience e.g., burning onto CD-ROM
Can be accessible from multiple locations and by many individuals simultaneously e.g., on the WWW

-Portability: Easier to transport than hard copy versions.


-Creativity: New non-linear formats and the integration of various media types allow students many ways to creatively express their professional knowledge and skills.

Disadvantages:

-Be aware of the possibility of plagiarism as it may be easier to use your information as it is already in a digital format and easily copied and pasted or saved onto another person’s computer.

Hey,


I'm Gigi and I'm at Qatar Academy.I'm in grade 6 and I love my friends Yasmeen, Yasmeen and Al- Anood. I love shopping and I hate school. I love basketball and swimming.


In technology we have done wiki's. Some of the pages on it are about ourselves, CAS which is community and service we have also done a page aboutthe design cycle. So far the year has been great, I hope it stays the same!
